Under the lightning condition, when the lightning down leader approaches the ground, an uplink leader will be generated on any conductive surface. In the case of passive lightning rod, only after a long period of charge recombination can the uplink leader propagate. The excitation time of upstream leader of oml-dd3 pre discharge lightning rod is greatly shortened.
Under the condition of high static electric field characteristics before lightning discharge, oml-dd3 pre discharge lightning arrester will produce pulses with controllable amplitude and frequency at the tip of the needle, which makes the lightning rod produce an upward leader and propagate upward, thus intercepting the downward leader from the thunderstorm and achieving the purpose of first discharging. For the pre discharge time, nfc17-102 standard is defined as the difference between the average start-up time of the upstream leader sent out by the advance discharge lightning rod and the average starting time of the upward leader issued by the simple lightning rod. This is the result of comparing an ese lightning rod with a simple lightning rod under the same test conditions in the high voltage laboratory. It is a test statistical data.
