SHLX-PV series combiner box combines at most 24-channel DC input of PV strings into 1-channel output, each channel is equipped with fuse wire,
the output is equipped with lightning protector and circuit breaker, it greatly simplifies the input wiring
of DC power distribution cabinet and inverter, provides lightning protection, short-circuit protection and ground protection. The combiner box has smart and non-smart two types. The smart lightning-protection combiner box has built-in combiner monitoring unit that monitors the input voltage of each PV string, collective output voltage,
temperature inside the box, as well as the status of lightning protector and circuit breaker, eccetera. According
to the channel number of PV strings, it carries out combiner function for 24 channels at most, commonly
used configuration: 8 channels, 10 channels, 12 channels and 16 channels.
Internal of the device is arranged concisely, enjoys orderly and reasonable wiring, with high reliability
and easy maintenance. The outdoor wall-mounted type can adapt to all kinds of severe environment. Except for the core components, it can be
custom-made according to your requirements.
Functions
Ingress protection of the combiner box reaches IP65, it is featured with waterproof, dustproof,
rustproof, salt fog proof, can be used outdoors.
Put in 24 channels of PV strings at most.
Positive and negative poles of each PV string are equipped with special fuse wire,
which protects the PV string from fault, use matchable fuse holder and fuse wire to reduce later
maintenance cost for owner, and guarantee safety of maintenance personnel.
It uses photovoltaic purposed HV lightning protector to carry out protection to the positive
pole-to-ground and negative pole-to-ground of bus after combination,
the continuous operating voltage (Uc) reaches 1000VDC.
The power supply module in the combiner box can accept PV voltage as high as 1000DCV.
The measure-control module of combiner box adopts high-performance Honeywell Hall elements (DC CT sensor), which carries out monitoring, alarm
and local fault location to each PV string, meanwhile, it measures the temperature inside the combiner
box, carries out status inspection to the lightning protector and output circuit breaker.
Monitoring module in the combiner box has function of digital display, it indicates the current
of each PV string, bus voltage, temperature inside the box, status of circuit breaker and lightning
protector, system power, equipment address and other relevant information.
It is equipped with RS485/MODBUS-RTU serial port communication.
All external interfaces have lightning protection.
Receive and download the parameters of local monitoring device, and carry
out analysis processing.
Working power supply for combiner box can be 220VAC/DC from outside,
also can be supplied by the self-contained power supply of combiner box. When using the self-contained power supply, users need not to arrange additional wiring for the power supply.

2. Function description:
(1)Solar cell module
Solar cell module is the major part in the solar power system, also is the most valuable
part in the system, it converts the solar radiation energy into DC energy;
The solar cell module is a solar generating device that converts the solar energy into DC
energy directly. According to user’s requirements to the power and voltage, it can be prepared
into single solar cell module or solar array that is composed of many solar cell modules by
means of serial connection (to meet the voltage requirement) or parallel connection
(to meet the current requirement). It is featured with high power-to-area ratio, long service life and high reliability, in 20 years of service life,
its output power decrease generally not exceed 20%.
Generally speaking, the generated energy of solar cell module will scale up along
with the increase of sunlight intensity, and reduces slightly along with the increase of
surface temperature of the solar cell module. It’s peak power Wp means the value of
Imax*Umax when the sunlight intensity is 1000W/M2, AM is 1.5, panel surface temperature
is 25ºC.
Along with the temperature change, the current, voltage and power of solar cell module
will change correspondingly, so the designer must take the voltage negative temperature
coefficient into consideration when connecting the solar cell modules in series.
(2)Solar charging and discharging controller
It is also called “photovoltaic controller”, it regulates and controls the electric energy
generated by the solar cell modules, and charges the storage batteries to the largest extent,
while, carries out overcharge and overdischarge protection to the storage batteries.
In places where have large temperature difference, the solar controller also should have
function of temperature compensation.
The solar controller is mainly used to regulate and control the DC energy generated by
the solar cell modules, it also has intelligent management function to the battery charging
and discharging. In places where have large temperature difference, the solar controller also
should have function of temperature compensation.
Select suitable solar controller according to the DC voltage class of system as well as the
power of solar cell modules, the frequently used voltage classes of solar controller are
DC12V, 24V, 48V, 110V, 220V.
(3)Storage battery
It is mainly used to store energy for nights or rainy days, arrange the number of
serial/parallel connected storage battery according to system’s DC voltage class; try to use
1-2 groups of storage battery of large capacity, the frequently used specifications are
12V and 2V;
Please follow these principles when connecting the storage batteries in parallel: same
model, same specification, same manufacturer, same batch, install and use at the same
time.
(4)Off-grid inverter
It is a core component in the off-grid power generating system, it converts the direct current into alternating current for AC
loads. In order to improve the overall performance of solar generating system, guarantee
long-term stable operation of power station,
it is very important to choose inverters of high performance indexes.
Off-grid inverter is an important device in the solar generating system,
model selection of the inverter depends on load characteristic
(such as resistive, inductive or capacitive) and magnitude of load power.
